SOPHIE BECKER
Sophie Becker is a New York–based performer working at the intersection of ventriloquism, theater, and experimental comedy. Her work explores voice, control, and the strangeness of human relationships through the lens of ventriloquism. With a cast of recurring characters, including her dummy, Ronnie, Sophie has performed at MoMA PS1, De Studio (Belgium), the Marriott Marquis in Times Square, the Rockaway Film Festival, Jean’s Lafayette, Art Omi, and NADA Miami, among others. Her recent work was developed in Belgium with Kunstplaats Vonk.
JOÃO DOS SANTOS MARTINS
João dos Santos Martins (Portugal, 1989) is an artist and dancer whose work spans a wide range of forms, including choreography, exhibition, and publishing. His practice articulates collaborative modes of working that focus on questions of transmission, language, and labor. Together with Ana Bigotte Vieira, he created a device for the collective mapping of the history of dance in Portugal, For there to be a Timeline (2016–). In 2019, he founded the biannual publication Coreia, dedicated to artists' writings in Portuguese. He is co-director of Parasita, an artist-run cooperative and space based in Lisbon. He performs in projects by Moriah Evans and Xavier le Roy, among others.
UNTITLED QUEEN
Untitled Queen is a Boricua / Filipinx drag artist residing on the stolen land of Lenapehoking (so-called Brooklyn). She tells decolonial stories through emotive performances combining poetry, sound, projection, and installation. Along with her best friend and collaborator Jess Ramsay, she produces and hosts an experimental drag art competition called, "Untitled (Art Star)" at C'mon Everybody in Bedstuy.
